Data we collect
Account and profile data may include your email address, password hash, account and profile names, preferred chef and kitchen, application settings, authentication sessions, and email-verification or password-reset records.
AI feature content
When you request AI features, Rolling Pin may transmit and process chat prompts, recipe conversations, dish images, audio recordings submitted for transcription, transcription text, and text submitted for speech generation. This content is processed through our backend and relevant service providers to produce the requested result.
Local content
Saved recipes, planner entries, avatar images, and some personal cooking preferences are generally stored locally on your device rather than as backend account content. Deleting your Rolling Pin account may not erase content that remains in local app storage. Remove that content in the app where available or delete the app's local data.
Usage and security data
We may process account-scoped usage counters, plan and quota information, request timestamps, IP address, user agent, authentication and security audit events, and content-free model usage and cost metadata. We use this information to operate limits, secure accounts, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot service reliability.
Subscription data
Apple handles payment details. Rolling Pin does not receive your complete payment-card information. We receive and store non-card information needed to verify purchases and provide Pro access, including product, transaction, environment, expiration, renewal, and revocation status.
How we use data
We use relevant data to:
- Provide, personalize, and secure accounts and requested app features.
- Process AI-assisted cooking, dish scanning, transcription, and speech requests.
- Enforce plan limits and verify subscription entitlements.
- Send verification, password-reset, and other transactional account email.
- Troubleshoot reliability, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations.
Service providers
We use the following providers for the stated purposes:
- DigitalOcean — backend application hosting and database infrastructure.
- Upstash Redis — rate limiting and usage-control data.
- Amazon Web Services SES — verification, password-reset, and transactional account email.
- OpenAI — processing prompts, conversations, dish images, audio, and speech text for requested AI features.
- Apple App Store, StoreKit, and TestFlight — app distribution, testing, purchases, subscriptions, and transaction status.
These providers process relevant data for their stated purpose under their applicable terms and privacy practices. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect users or the service, or in connection with a lawful business reorganization. We do not sell personal data.
Retention, choices, and account deletion
Server-side account and profile information is retained while your account is active. Profile → Delete Account uses Rolling Pin's authenticated deletion service to remove account-owned users, profiles, sessions, preferences, usage counters, and subscription state from the active database. Associated security audit entries are redacted and retained without account identifiers.
Operational logs, redacted security records, and backups may remain for a limited period for security, recovery, fraud prevention, or legal compliance. Contact privacy@rollingpin.app to request access, correction, or deletion, or with privacy questions.
Deleting a Rolling Pin account does not cancel an Apple subscription and may not erase content stored only on your device. Manage or cancel Apple billing separately through your Apple Account subscription settings.
International processing
Rolling Pin and its service providers may process data in countries outside your own. The location and handling of data depends on the infrastructure and provider used for the feature you request.
Children and age
Rolling Pin is intended for users age 13 or older, or the minimum permitted age in their region. Minors should use the app with a parent or guardian, particularly when sharing information or using cooking guidance.
